In 1929, Pelikan was the first company in the world to introduce the piston filling mechanism. This technique uses 2 different threads to ensure that the spindle inside the fountain pen rotates faster than the back of the pen. Today this fountain pen exists in many variations and although the system has been further developed, the basic mechanism remains the same.

The Souverän 625 convinces with its modern design combined with the classic lines of the Souverän 600 model. The cap made of solid Sterling silver gives this writing instrument its appropriate weight. The striped barrel body of the M400 is made from celluloid acetate which is a cotton derivative and so each one is slightly different to each other, much like wood has different knots and patterns. The barrel is translucent, so you can see how much ink is left inside the pen by holding it upto a light.

The black parts of the pen are made from high quality resin, which has a sheen and is strong and lightweight.  The metal trim of the pen is 24 carat gold plated.

The gift box included is also pictured and has a removable lid and an ivory coloured faux leather pouch for protecting the pen when being stored or carried. The pouch can take one or two pens.
