The Cornaline d’Égypte ink is the second ink in the J. Herbin 1798 ink collection. 1798 is a special year for the history of Herbin and a turning point in French history. Carnelian is a gemstone and a variety of chalcedony, a member of the agate family, in orange-red. In ancient Egypt, carnelian was a symbol of life. This cheerful stone brings vitality in lithotherapy. The stone is said to give strength after difficult times and to increase concentration.

J. Herbin is the oldest namesake of ink in the world. M. Herbin had first created “The Jewel of Inks” in his shop on the Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris in 1700.
